Spanish
At Newcastle Elementary Charter School, students TK-5 receive Spanish instruction utilizing the ¡No me digas! curriculum for grades TK-2, and the Rockalingua curriculum for grades 3-5. Both programs use multiple Comprehensible Input methods, including TPR, PQA, Storytelling, Story-asking, and MovieTalk. Culture is in Context and taught in the target language. All vocabulary is based on high-frequency language and student-centered vocabulary. They offer a fun and interactive platform for kids to learn Spanish through videos, songs, games, and worksheets.

IMMERSION
Little English will be spoken during class, which has a powerful impact on acquisition speed.
CURRICULUM
Both curricula, ¡No me digas! and Rockalingua are developed and published specifically for the immersion environment to address all areas of language development: reading, writing, listening, and speaking in Spanish. Exciting lessons and activities are included to keep the program fun and engaging.
FREQUENCY
The Spanish program is conducted 2 days per week. Frequent exposure is critical to success.
