Social and Emotional Learning

Newcastle students receive lessons multiple times a week helping to grow social and emotional intelligence.  What is social and emotional intelligence you might ask?  It is the ability to identify, manage, and express emotions constructively, express empathy, be an effective communicator, and among other things, negotiate and resolve differences.  There are a great many benefits to this for our Knights.  Research shows that by learning these things it (along with many other benefits) reduces bullying, increases self-esteem, and improves intellectual development. The curriculum we use for this is called In Focus
