Hello, Newcastle Families!

As the Principal of Newcastle Elementary & Newcastle Charter School, I am excited to serve my home community. I have lived in Newcastle for over twenty years and our youngest son attended Newcastle Elementary. Some of his teachers are still serving our school! Our son grew as a learner and a person during his time at Newcastle. What has always drawn my attention to Newcastle Elementary is its mission to provide every student with a personalized, challenging, academic program that develops 21st Century skills necessary to become active and effective global citizens. As a parent and educator, I also value the emphasis that Newcastle places on ensuring that each child’s innate ability will be supported in a caring, interactive, project/inquiry based learning environment with an emphasis on strong character and personal value. My husband and I have raised three sons here, two of whom graduated from Placer and our youngest graduating from Del Oro. We have strong ties to our community and we can often be found hiking along one of our many local trails or kayaking in nearby lakes and rivers. I am honored that I am now going to be a contributing member of the Newcastle team! 

I am currently in my twenty-seventh year in education. I spent sixteen years as a classroom teacher, primarily focusing on math and science in the middle grades. I have served as a school administrator, having worked as an Assistant Principal in El Dorado County and as a Principal in Auburn. I have a strong background implementing programs which positively impact student learning. 

Newcastle is a school with an honored tradition, where strong connections are made between the home and the school. We value our parent and community partnerships and we encourage our extended school community to get involved on our campus. I strive to work in collaboration with each of you to promote programs that support the whole child. I believe that successful schools are founded on creating respectful, trusting relationships where students, staff, and parents are valued and appreciated. I am honored to have been selected to serve this community and will work hard to gain your trust and respect. Please know that my door is always open and I welcome your input.
