Why Does Sombrero Time Work?

Beginning 2013 we began using the Sombrero Time Curriculum, offering Spanish Language Instruction at Newcastle Elementary/Charter for students in K through 3rd.
Sombrero Time offers a unique approach to learning Spanish. Our immersion instruction combined with our distinctive curriculum builds Spanish language proficiency allowing students to understand, speak, read and write in Spanish.

What makes Sombrero Time unique?
No English will be spoken during class which has a powerful impact on the speed of acquisition.
Sombrero Time curriculum is developed and published specifically for the immersion environment to address all areas of language development- reading, writing, listening and speaking in Spanish. Exciting lessons and activities are included to keep the program fun and engaging.
The Sombrero Time program is conducted 4 days per week. Frequent exposure is critical to success.
We have an excellent staff of "maestras" who are native speakers. They are experienced working with children, have a love of the language and culture, and are extensively trained in the Sombrero Time curriculum, philosophy and system of delivery.
