Hello, I am Linda Hess, Speech/Language Specialist for the Newcastle Elementary School District. I graduated with both my B.A. and M.A. in Speech Pathology and Audiology in 1985 from CSU, Chico. I've worked in the district on and off (mostly on) since 1995ish (gulp that is quite awhile!) Working with students to overcome communication difficulties whether it is unintelligible speech, expressive language, stuttering or social skills, is both challenging and rewarding. One thing I have learned from working in this field and in this job for so long is that you will never have "seen it all". It is important to never lose your sense of wonder and to embrace each child as the unique individual that they are. Some of the things I like to do when I'm not working are: hiking, reading, cooking and spending time with family and friends. I love living in the foothills where fresh air and beautiful views make life sweet!
