Newcastle Elementary/Charter School

Facilities

April 2, 2017

Dear Parents,

We are excited to announce some big changes coming for Fall of 2017.

You may have noticed the crowded conditions we are presently experiencing on campus with some of our programs. We need more classroom space and a more expeditious parking lot. We are about to get both! We are excited to announce that our district has been able to purchase new classrooms space on an adjacent lot next to our present facility. Additionally our parking lot and front entrance will undergo significant updates in order to increase safety, accessibility, and appeal.

The planned projects will begin June 2017 with projected completion just before school resumes in August of 2017. We invite you to learn more about our updates. A parent meeting will be set after break to share these plans with you in person. Below you will see an overview of details as we know them today:

New Classrooms:

Location of these additional classes is just below our primary playground at the present Secret Ravine Property. Our board has recently approved the 7th and 8th grades to occupy these new rooms in August 2017, followed by our 6th grades as the classrooms are readied.

Access to New Classrooms:

The new classrooms will be joined to our existing campus by a new path located  below our primary playground. Construction of this access will begin in summer.

Parking Lot and Front Entrance

Our present NES/NCS parking lot, entrance area, concrete walkways, and portions of the patio areas will undergo a facelift beginning in June. The school site will be impacted and limited access will be available to the school during summer. A rendering of the plan is ATTACHED  and on our office wall.

Throughout this process we will strive to keep you informed, and we are dedicated to making improvements that will enhance the learning environment that makes Newcastle School so special. Please consider joining us at the upcoming meeting this spring, time and location details will follow soon in the Sunday Announcements.

Sincerely,

Liz Staton,

Principal
